Working as both a professional painter and a professional art educationalist has been a feature of Ron George's career. Having completed Art School training, he also qualified and then worked as an art teacher in Leicestershire and north London before joining a government research team based at Goldsmiths, University of London. Then began a career-long process of leadership in University based Art Schools, including Cardiff, Leeds and Bath.
At Bretton Hall he worked to establish the Yorkshire Sculpture Park and also founded and built the National Art Education Archive. During a 10 year Vice Presidency of The League of European Art Schools, he was engaged in major research projects based in Amsterdam, Berlin, Brussels, Lisbon, Helsinki, Madrid and Barcelona, and established international partnerships with art schools from New York to Beijing. As an adviser to major UK University based schools he has provided consultancy at Chelsea, Glasgow, Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds, Exeter and Birmingham Schools of Art and been external examiner to PhD level. Ron George holds the title Emeritus Professor, and is an Honorary and lifelong Member of the European Art Schools.
